Parque do Bixiga
Our proposal transforms a long-contested urban site into a public landscape centered on daylighting the Bixiga River, revealing a hidden ecological system, and reconnecting the city to the hydrological processes beneath it. The park links surrounding neighborhoods and extends the presence of the Teotro Oficina into a common ground, where meandering paths connect a sequence of spaces in a floodable wetland. Repurposed industrial materials such as concrete slabs and steel beams become sculptural urban furniture, framing a hisotry of ecological mismanagement and looking towards a hybrid and hopeful post-natural future
